 This 7-day cycling tour from Marrakech to the Sahara will take you through the colourful streets of Marrakech, and through to the quiet sands of the Sahara Desert. This 7-day  itinerary is a perfect combination of an active vacation, cultural tour and natural adventure, perfect for cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival in Marrakech

    Welcome to Morocco! You arrive in Marrakech and make your way to your accommodation. Stroll around the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa Square and taste the local foods, watch the musicians and get immersed in the atmosphere. Briefing on the cycling route and equipment check. Overnight in Marrakech.

  • Day 3 Cycling from Marrakech to Ouirgane (50km)

    Begin your cycling trip with a climb to the Atlas Mountains. Cycling through beautiful valleys, typical Berber houses, and olive trees. Arrive in Ouirgane, a small village located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. It is a perfect place to relax and prepare for the next day’s cycling. Evening relaxation and a night’s rest in preparation for the next day. Overnight in Ouirgane.

  • Day 3 Cycling from Ouirgane to Ait Benhaddou (70km)

    Cycling via the stunning Tizi n’Tichka Pass that provides stunning views of the High Atlas. Cycling through small villages and agricultural terraces. Arrive at Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a filming location of famous movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. A traditional Moroccan dinner is served. Stay overnight in Ait Benhaddou.

  • Day 4 Cycling from Ait Benhaddou to Ouarzazate to Skoura (60km)

    Cycle to Ouarzazate is also referred to as the “Gateway to the Desert”. Learn about Morocco’s filming industry by visiting the Atlas Film Studios. Continue cycling to Skoura, which is a region of palm trees and ancient kasbahs and oases. Enjoy the tranquillity of the oasis and have a relaxing time. Overnight in Skoura.

  • Day 5 Cycling from Skoura to Dades Valley (55km)

    Cycling through the Valley of the Roses, which is renowned for its rose cultivation and products. Cycle on to the Dades Gorge, famous for its sandstone peaks and twisting gorges. Cycling through the ”Route of a Thousand Kasbahs” located along the way. Stay overnight in the Dades Valley.

  • Day 6 Cycling from Dades Valley to Merzouga (Transfer + Cycling)

    Then travel by car to the edge of the desert, near Merzouga. Cycle across the orange-coloured dunes of the Erg Chebbi, one of the most typical areas of the Moroccan desert. Experience an authentic camel ride to a luxury camp in the desert where you will spend the night in the starlit sky. Enjoy a traditional Berber dinner and live music around the campfire. Stay overnight in a desert camp

  • Day 7 Merzouga to Marrakech (Transfer)

    Get up early to enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the Sahara Desert. Then travel back to Marrakech in a vehicle and reflect on the journey. End the trip with a dinner in Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech or leave for your further journey.
