Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to marrakech

Arrival and meeting at the airport in Marrakech, followed by transfer to a 3 star hotel (including dinner and breakfast).

Day 2: Transfer to Ouaouizeght and start of our mountain bike adventure

Transfer by van to the High Atlas. After the lunch our mountain bike adventure starts. During the first part we’ve a splendid view over the dam “Bin-El-Ouidane”. We continue towards the impressive rock “the Cathedral” where we check-in at a traditional Kasbah (fortified Berber house) (45 km / 28 miles and 4100 feet pos)

Day 3: the impressive Assif Melloul gorge

Today our trail goes through the impressive gorge of the river Assif Melloul (white river in Berber). After the gorge we end up in an isolated but splendid valley with traditional villages. Possiblity to discover the valley on bike and to climb even the pass Tizi-n-Dari (2061 mtr). Lodging in a local guesthouse in Anerqui with nice view over the valley. (55 km, 34 miles incl. Tizi-n-Dari. Hm 1.250 mtr / 4100 feet pos.)

Day 4: Anerqui – Imilchil

We start with a stiff climb to the pas Tizi-n-Tibarchit (2525 m, 8285 feet). On the pass we get a splendid view over the valley. Then we bike over an isolated plain with some nomads. At the forester house of Tasraft the long and the short route will split up. The long route makes a loop along the impressive traditional storages of Aoujgal and the short route passes several traditional villages. Before the descend towards Tassent, the 2 groups meet again. We cross a river and pass the blue lake of Tislit (the bride). We stay overnight in the famous village of Imilchil (yearly bride market) (short tour: 80 km/ 50 miles 1700 mtr pos / 5577 feet pos. Long tour: 100 km / 62 miles 2980 mtr pos / 9776 feet pos)

Day 5: Crossing the highest pass (Tizi-n-Ouerz 2892 m, 9490 feet)

Today we’ll reach the highest point of our bike trip and at the same time one of Morocco’s highest passes (Tizi-n-Ouerz) . During the long descend we get a nice view over the valley. We stay the night at a Berber guesthouse near Tilmi. (85 km, 52 miles. 1175 mtr / 3854 feet pos)

Day 6: Via the Dades gorge to Boutharar

Today we bike trough the impressive Dades gorge. Before Ait Youl we cross an isolated and deserted mountain area. Near the village of Ighrem Aqdim we’ve a river crossing. We stay overnight in the beautiful valley of Boutharar. This valley is known for its contrasting colours of red rocks and the green of the oases. Lodging in a Berber guesthouse with splendid view over the valley.
(Long tour: 90 km, 46 miles. 1560 mtr pos., 5118 feet pos.
Short tour: 77 km , 48 miles and 975 mtr pos, 3200 feet pos.)

Day 7: Via de valley el Hot to Kelaa Mgouna

We make a loop through the splendid valley of El Hot with its traditional Berber villages and kasbah. Then we climb the pass Talouine (1900 m / 6200 feet). From the pass we’ve a gorgeous view over the often snow capped Mgoun range and the pre-Sahara. After the descend we’ll enter the desert town Kelaa Mgouna, the end of our bike tour.

After lunch a transfer is organized to Marrakech where we stay at a 3* hotel on half board.

Day 8: Transfer to the airport
